American Watercolor in the Age of Homer and Sargent

Featuring two paintings donated by the Philadelphia Water Color Society ( Philadelphia Water Color Club- former name of society)
This exhibition explores watercolor painting’s remarkable rise in the United States in the years between 1860 and 1925. From the passion of a small group of painters in the 1860s to the flowering of modernism in the early twentieth century, this survey charts the artistic revolution that occurred during the lifetimes of Winslow Homer and John Singer Sargent, the two most influential American watercolorists.

Docent Tour Time: 9:15 am - participants must arrive by 9:00 am
Costs: Guided tours are $34 per person and that includes a one hour guided tour of the exhibition, and general admission to the Museum’s 3 buildings on 2 consecutive days. This includes the evening celebrations and events on Friday, April 7, 2017.
Plein Air Painting on the Museum Grounds and the Waterworks
Tour participants will stay and paint outside regardless of weather. Places to paint are the museum steps looking out at the city, Waterworks ( gazebo shelter there), Eakins Oval and many more spots. Take a look at the map to see the possibilities. https://www.philamuseum.org/visit/?page=2
We ask that all painters pre-register so that they can receive their easel placard, name tag and PWCS information to hand out.
Participation criteria and cost:
All participants must be members in good standing of Philadelphia Water Color Society. Log-in to your member profile to access registration.
There are 50 spots available on a first come first serve basis.
PWCS reserves the right to cancel the tour, if there are not at least 15 artists signed up.
Sign up is by web only.
Payment is by paypal only.
There are no refunds for cancellation although you can find another member to take your place.
Cost is the same whether you are a museum member or not.
